I've been trying for days to hunt down the best collectibles and to be honest, I'm not really that excited about any of them. Which is a bummer. Some are cool, don't get me wrong, but it's tough to decide which ones are going to stand out above the rest.
There are a lot of main stream exclusives this year. Main stream doesn't equal rare. Most of the time, anyway. So let's take a look at a few of this years collectibles that stand out to me.
The Walking Dead Hershel Vinyl POP figure.
Funko has something like 80 exclusives this year. This one is a little unique. Hershel's head comes off for starters which is pretty cool. Plus he's a beloved character that [SPOILERS] is no longer on the show. So the nostalgia factor can have an effect on how fast it flies off the shelves.
FUNKO POP! can be found at booth# 5343 and usually everywhere else on the floor.
ANYTHING Alex Ross
AlexRossArt.com has about 10 prints for sale at about $20 a piece. There will be an art book and an exclusive sketch print signed by Alex Ross himself for $200
AlexRossArt.com can be round at booth# 2419
Lucille
This is the Lucille from The Walking Dead. Negan's pride and joy. This item is limited to only 2500 pieces and with as huge as The Walking Dead is, they can definitely all go at SDCC. You can find this for about $40 at the Skybound booth# 2729
The Infinity Gauntlet Box Set
To me, this is one of the coolest exclusives this year. That foam Infinity Gauntlet is just too awesome. You can find this for about $74.99. It will be at the Hasbro booth# 3213
Star Wars Velvet Flocked Wampa Hallmark Keepsake Ornament
This will be the only Hallmark ornament that will turn a good profit this year. It's Star Wars related so immediately it means collectible. He'll be furry so that adds a little bit to it. The other ornaments are related to Iron Man 3 and Batman Arkham City. The Batman one is cool but ornaments related to properties other than the original never do too good. This should go for around $35. Hallmark both# 2913
So that will be all for now. There are so many exclusives this year it's just getting out control. Every year, whether its the San Diego Comic Con or the New York Comic Con, they are getting larger and larger. The only move is to get there as early as possible and know exactly where you're going.
Do your research, have a game plan. Chances are you're only going to get one or two of the big ones before they are gone.
Ok that's all for now. I'll be back with another blog soon to talk about main stream comics that are actually can still turn a profit.
Take that all the way to the bank, brother!
