The DECLINE of Selling Autographed Comic Books

Howdy everyone and thanks for checking in for another edition of Collect the UNcollected.  I hope everyone enjoyed the NYCC update and the con itself if you went.

I learned a lot this year and one thing I'm going to touch on tonight is something that has been building up over the years.

If you follow any comic book creators on Twitter, it's more than likely you have read a tweet from them where they bring up the subject of noticing an autographed comic of theirs on eBay.  It's big time frowned upon.  Comic book creators never like to see someone flip their work for a profit.  They want people to enjoy their work for what it is, not to try and make a quick buck.

New York Comic Con 2014 Saturday REVIEW

So, got there about 7am.  Line was down the block and around the corner.  It even indented by the little parking area which no one used to do so it was even farther than it seemed.  The farthest back I've ever been in line before.  Just goes to show how much the con has grown.

They opened the doors to head inside at around 8 to get in line.  One thing that was absolutely fantastic was the way lines were separated when everyone filed inside.  If you want to go to a panel, go to the left; if you want to just go inside, go to the right.  I'm not interested in wasting my entire date so I don't go to any panels.  I'm also not interested in meeting any celebrities.  Not that I'm too cool for that, it's just expensive as hell.  But it was great that I wasn't as far back in line as I originally would have been because they weeded out everyone that is in line early to attend a panel.  It is a bummer for anyone attending the con for the first time who isn't aware that's how it works but we all learn that way.

The money making juggernaut that is the iPhone 6

So this is just going to be a quick little updated that's based on a little conversation I was having at lunch today...

So the Apple iPhone 6 launched on September 19th and immediately a ton of people I know bought themselves one.  From talking with a former Apple employee, selling phones overseas is  HUGE market.  An illegal one maybe, sort of, I don't know but a huge market none the less.

As the excitement for new phones increases with every model, everyone wants to get their hands on one as soon as they can.  The US release was September 19th. As of this posting, it is available in 18 other markets including Switzerland, Italy, New Zealand, Sweden, Netherlands, Spain, Denmark, Ireland, Norway, Luxembourg, Russia, Austria, Turkey, Finland, Taiwan, Belgium, Portugal and the United Arab Emirates (though the latter has September 27th listed as its launch date)

Markets where the phone WILL NOT be available are paying BIIIIIIG bucks to get their hands on one.  According to The Washington Post, the regular model of the iPhone 6 is selling for SEVEN TIMES what it's worth in China and from whatI heard, $2400 in the Philippines.

Thats pretty crazy.  Apparently this is a big market that I never even thought about.  It takes a lot of risk and a lot of time but that is a really big pay off.  Apparently the cops are even onto it as they were interrogating people on line to purchase the phone.

I don't really have any tips, just a pretty wild observation.

Leave some comments and let me know what you think.

The Outer Space Men

FROM THE FARTHEST REACHES OF THE GALAXY COME THE OUTER SPACE MEN!

Hi again, everyone.  Back here with another quick update.
So Gary from The Outer Space men reaches out to me on Twitter (@TheUNcollected) and asks me to take a look at some of the new Outer Space Men figures they are trying to sell.

I'm not going to lie and say I was 100% familiar with these figures but I did a little research and WOW are these things hot!

The Outer Space Men have been around since 1968 and have a very retro feel to their figures.  Not only that, but there is also a very limited amount of them available.  These things go for AT LEAST double what they originally sell for and that's for the series only from 2010!  Now Series 2 is out and I say get your hands on them AS SOON AS YOU CAN!!

Check out the description after the jump.

What's In My Parent's Basement - Part 1

Hi Everybody!  It's been a little while but thanks for stopping by for another update from Collect the UNcollected.

So this past weekend I visited my parent's house.  I remember all the things I have but I needed to really explore to take some pictures of things.  Now to give you a little background, I'm an only child.  For some of you, you should know that explains a lot.  I had A LOT of stuff.  But on top of that, my parents always understood the idea of collecting and NEVER threw anything out.

So I snapped some pictures of a few things that they still have lying around.  I didn't setup many things all nice and displayed because they were just so tough to get to. There were tons of dust and cobwebs as you will see from some of the pics.

But there is A LOT to get to so lets get started...

Last post issues...

Hi everybody,

Now I'm not sure if some of you might be having the same issues I'm having but since my last post was about arcade games, at my job the post has been blocked because it relates to GAMES.  I tried to edit the post to get around it but I'm not sure if it's fully working.

However the post can be accessed from my Google + profile.  So Google "Mike Speer Blog" or "collect the uncollected blog" and you should see the entry there and access my profile.  From there, you can click on the link for the update.

What a pain in the ass I know but it should work for now.  Let me know if anyone is still having issues!

Thanks for stopping by!

The NEXT GEN of collectible Arcade Games

Ello again everyone! and welcome to another update of Collect the UNcollected...

Before I move on, I just want to thank everyone again for checking out my blog recently.  The more you stop by, the more it helps me and the more I can keep doing research and talking about the great geeky stuff we all love to bullshit about.

THANK YOU!!!
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

So I've had an idea to do an update about arcade games for a while.  As I started researching, I had an idea to do another take on it.
We all know of the classics like Pac-Man, Galaga and Xaxon, but those are old news.  In the future when there is a new generation of millionaires to collect wild things like arcade games, there will be a new feeling of nostalgia for and a new set of games that give them that feeling.  I'm pretty sure when I go through this list, a lot of you are going to get the same feelings.

Arcade games are not what they used to be.  They are trying to make a come back but the regular two button and a joy stick games are everything but extinct.  Games today are all about gimmicks.  Racing games, games that you need helmets to wear or a giant shotgun to use.  Those games are a blast for sure but I still wish i could walk into an arcade and play some of these...

Mainstream Comic Gems...

Howdy Everyone!

I just want to say THANK YOU to all of the new viewers and followers.  Since I started the twitter account @TheUNcollected, the amount of views have shot through the roof!

Spread the word and spread the love!

-------------------------------------------------------------

Ok before I get started, I just want to mention I just got back from spending a few days down at the Jersey Shore and came across that new Batman arcade game.  It's a racing game where you just blow shit up.  There are three levels, Mr. Freeze, Bane, and Joker.  The best part, it has EVERY SINGLE BATMOBILE to choose from.  I'm talking 66 Batman to The Dark Knight Rises and even the Animated Series and Arkham Asylum.  That part alone makes it a blast to play.  I saw the new Transformers one but didn't check it out.

Maybe in the future I'll do a post about the most valuable arcade games out there...ok let's get started...

SDCC 2014!

So it's that time again.  The time for the one and only San Diego Comic Con.
I've been trying for days to hunt down the best collectibles and to be honest, I'm not really that excited about any of them.  Which is a bummer.  Some are cool, don't get me wrong, but it's tough to decide which ones are going to stand out above the rest.

There are a lot of main stream exclusives this year.  Main stream doesn't equal rare.  Most of the time, anyway.  So let's take a look at a few of this years collectibles that stand out to me.

#500!!!!!

So I reached 500 page views today.  Took a year, but since in a span of a year i only have 9 updates i'm going to chalk that up to not that bad.

I will be having a new update soon.  I'm trying to think of a topic to cover.  Possibly action figures.

Let me know what you think

Image FIRSTS

Howdy again everyone.

Quick update on my re-sell ventures.
I've sold ALMOST everything on eBay that I put out there and I didn't really learn anything I didn't already know.

The easier it is to obtain, the harder it is to resell.  My R2-Q5 and Doctor Who collectibles were extremely easy to obtain and took a while to sell.  I broke a little more than even with them.  There was a ton of these things already out there to sell so in order to have mine stand out, I had to drop the price a few dollars.  Next time, i'll be on the look out for those really hard things to grab.

One thing that I was looking to grab was the Killer Bootlegs "Ewoking Dead" collectible action figure. There was only 18 of these to give out.  I was number 20 in line.  I've seen one go for $179 on eBay.  I think it was less than $20 to purchase at NYCC.  But that goes to show you that the harder it is to grab, the better your turn around.  Just like the Walter White action figure from Breaking Bad.  They were sold out on Thursday.  Selling for double what you could purchase it for.
